Mortars
Ground workers and general builders
No matter the size of the job, the UK factory-produced mortar industry can
supply a suitable product using the delivery method required.
Today, mortars
come in various forms, from 25 kg plastic bags through to 35-tonne silos and in
wet or dry formats. It means great flexibility for the user, with the added
reassurance that the mortar will be supplied consistently to the specification
required, essential for guaranteed job quality control.
The mortars are made under tightly-controlled factory conditions and delivered
to site, ready to use. They have guaranteed mix proportions and overcome any
potential problems relating to site mixing. There are two broad versions: ‘wet’ and ‘dry’.
Wet mortars
Wet mortars are stored in tubs on site and require no further mixing. They incorporate a retarding agent that makes them fully useable for a specific period - usually some 36 hours.
Dry mortars
Dry mortars are stored in silos or bags. Silos are delivered to site complete with
integral mixers and require only power and water supplies to be connected.
