MPA Mortar 50th annual lunch 'probably the best ever'!
'Probably the best ever', was the overall verdict of those attending the 50th annual MPA Mortar lunch held at the Royal Over-Seas League, London, on 4 May.
Held annually since 1971, other than for in 2020 & 2021 when the COVID 19 restrictions curtailed plans, the lunch is for representatives of the factory-produced mortar industry and those that use its products, the bricklayers. This year 145 people attended the lunch which was proceeded for the first time by an exhibition and networking session. Guests were entertained post-lunch by comedian, Ian Irving who went on to interview England rugby international, Mike Tindall, with resulting sporting insights.
Adding an international flavour, president of the European Mortar Industry Organisation, Bas Huysmans and the association's technical and communications officer, Katharina Lennig, joined the lunch.
MPA Mortar manager, Mick Russell said: 'It was a great event and paid tribute to the proud history of the factory-produced mortar industry in this country where the good relationship between producers and those on the trowel is so important.'
