Take full account of weather exposure maps before building, says MPA Mortar

The need to take full account of frost and wind/rain exposure maps before specifying factory-produced mortars was underlined in a recent discussion at MPA Mortar’s technical committee.

MPA Mortar manager, Mick Russell said: 'It is very important that a specifier has considered the exposure area of a proposed build.

There is a wealth of relevant material available including a BSI document, BS 8104:1992. Much is downloadable on line. Alternatively, your building insurer will advise.
