Guild Of Bricklayers Competition
2019 Winners Announced
Colleges in Yorkshire and Wiltshire supplied the senior and junior section winners in the final of the 2019 Guild of Bricklayers competition, sponsored by the Mortar Industry Association (MIA).
Senior winner was Adam Batty from Barnsley College, with Tom Taylor, Wiltshire College, taking the junior section. Finalists in both sections had been given six hours to construct a brickwork model from drawings supplied.
The finals this year were held at Liverpool College.
MIA manager, Mick Russell, said: ‘Many congratulations to the winners especially as the overall standard of work produced by this year’s finalists was very high. It is a tribute to the excellent training being given around the country by our colleges.’
Sponsorship of the competition by MIA was given though the supply of mortar for each of the ten regional competitions. Producer member, John Carr (Liverpool) supplied material for the final.
