First heat for National Apprentice Bricklayers’ Competition

First regional heat of the Guild of Bricklayers 2016 national apprentices’ competition is taking place at Burton and South Derbyshire College’s Construction Academy on Monday 14th March.

Nineteen students from 10 colleges will compete in junior and senior categories and will be given up to six hours to construct a brickwork model from drawings supplied. The work will be marked by industry judges and winning competitors will compete in the national finals to be held in Devon in June.

Mortar used is being supplied by sponsor, the Mortar Industry Association, through its producer member, Breedon Aggregates.
