Tarmac builds on strong client relationships
Building up a strong relationship between a buyer of factory-produced mortar and the material supplier pays dividends, is the message from the experience of Landmark Brickwork and Tarmac.
Landmark Brickwork, based in Staines, is a specialist brickwork and stonework contractor to the commercial and house building sectors. The company has been using Tarmac as its mortar supplier over the past 12 years and has built up a strong relationship with the company. Landmark Brickwork managing director, Billy Sutcliffe, says: ‘We choose them as our supplier because it means more production from their mortar and the guys on site prefer it to other suppliers. The service is excellent, response times are impressive and the beauty of Tarmac is the availability of ready-mix mortar in tubs, which are a back up if there’s a problem with the silo. It means we’re
always covered.’
Tarmac’s commercial manager for mortars and screeds, John Metheringham, works closely
with Landmark Brickwork. He believes the reason Tarmac enjoys a strong relationship
with Landmark is because, ‘there are personal relationships between the teams from both
companies which help to ensure trust at all times. The business is gained not just on price
alone but from rapport, technical support, invoicing accuracy and service.’
Landmark has recently signed a contract with St Edwards Homes for a contract in Honey Pot
Lane, Middlesex. Landmark is using Tarmac for the supply of mortar, calling for three different
colours, black, buff and neutral. The project looks set to last up to four years with four
silos overall going onto site.
