Remix Provides Coloured Mortar
For City Centre Development
Exeter-based building firm Rok has chosen Remix Dry Mortar to supply dry silo mortar for the construction of a new 44-bed extension to the Southgate Hotel in Exeter.
Remix was selected because of its ability to ensure a good colour match to the original mortars used, colour consistency and guaranteed mix proportions throughout the contract.
As the hotel would be occupied by customers throughout the building work, the benefits offered by silos in terms of the reduction in noise, dust, waste and traffic movements were also significant factors in Rok’s choice.
Remix technical department worked closely with the contractor and architects to ensure that the mortars supplied were of the correct colour to match the existing building.
Two silos have been supplied to site, one containing designation 3 marigold coloured mortar and the other designation 3 medium red, for the two types of brick used in the construction.
Remix commercial manager Mark Leverson commented: “ We are delighted to be able to offer our support to Rok by providing dry silo mortar to this prestigious city centre development. The contractor has been able to recognise the many benefits that factory produced mortar will provide over traditional site mixing to meet the development’s stringent design criteria and practical construction constraints.”
