City of Manchester Stadium
Advanced Brickwork began working on the City of Manchester Stadium in September 2000 ready for the Commonwealth Games in 2002.
The team used 600 cubic metres of factory-produced mortar. With between 20 and 30 bins of mortar being delivered each day in an area where 500 to 600 people were working, the site was continually busy.
Andy Walker of Advanced Brickwork says: "We did not undertake any mixing of mortar on site as it was not always possible for us to gain access during the normal working day. We felt that the ready-mixed option was more suitable and quicker, ultimately meaning that labour costs were reduced."
